Biographies
a short introduction
Sheryl Boyle is Associate Professor, Architecture and Director of the Carleton Sensory Architecture and Liminal Technologies (CSALT) lab at Carleton University. She holds a PhD in the Humanities (Arts and Science) from Concordia University, a Post-Professional Master of Architecture from McGill University and a Professional Architecture degree from Carleton. Her research is at the intersections of architecture, cooking, women, building and materiality.
Genevieve Collins is a Postgraduate Researcher undertaking a PhD in Social Anthropology with Visual Media at the University of Manchester. She holds a Master of Arts in Social and Cultural Anthropology from Concordia University. Her research interests span art, science, and sensory anthropology, and her current research focuses on visual artists, environmental researchers, and sound recording in the Subarctic.
David Howes is Distinguished Research Professor, Anthropology and Founding Director of the Centre for Sensory Studies at Concordia University, Montreal as well as an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Law at McGill University. In 2024, he was inducted into the Royal Society of Canada. Recent books include The Sensory Studies Manifesto (2022), Sensorial Investigations (2023) and Sensorium (2024).
